We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors… we borrow it from our children

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors… we borrow it from our children It’s a proverb of Native Americans. It means that the Earth does not remain as it was before. It irreversibly changes under our actions.

Man feels the full owner of the Earth, he does whatever he wants.Man mindlessly burns hydrocarbons, creates ozone holes and the greenhouse effect…

«We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.»
(Native American Proverb)

There is a saying: «We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children «. It means that the Earth does not remain as it was before. It irreversibly changes under our actions. All changes in nature are the result of a man. Our ancestors lived on the green plains with flowing rivers. What can we see now? Careers, deserts, extinct species of animals, dirt, garbage and debris.

We live on the third planet from the Sun. Everything on it is harmonious, amazing and beautiful. Wonderful green forests cover it, flowers fill air with pleasant aromas, oceans, seas and rivers washes the shores; animals, birds, fishes, even the smallest bugs live in harmony with each other. Lows and mechanisms that exist in the animal world are plain and simple, and what is the most important — permanent.

And only a MAN who is intelligent, who is able to analyze, to think and plan, hasn’t learned to respect his home.

It’s so weird, only yesterday I thought that to throw garbage in specially allocated places is correct — the city is clean, my street is clean, and children walk in this street. I’ve never seen where those garbage bags that I carry each morning in the trash are taken away. And somehow I’ve never realized how much waste per day is taken out of the city with millions of population. And then suddenly I saw our city dump… Hectares of garbage!

And all this is in some ten or twelve kilometers from the city, near the airport…

We buy goods in attractive packaging, in boxes, which are thrown in the trash later … and which become the building blocks for such heaps of garbage. Soon the planet will become one huge dump…like in the cartoon «Wally». And it is dreadful. Why do we do so? What’s wrong with us?

We live without noticing how we pollute our planet by throwing out tons of garbage every day.

What will remain for our children? What planet will they live on?

Man feels the full owner of the Earth, he does whatever he wants: destroys thousands of species of flora and fauna, forests and soil, pollutes seas and oceans, destroys reserves of fresh water, creates and tests new types of nuclear, chemical, bacteriological, electronic, aerospace and other types of weapons of murder. Villages, cities, and countries are bombed. On a planetary scale drugs, tobacco, alcohol, genetically modified foods are spread. Man mindlessly burns hydrocarbons, creates ozone holes and the greenhouse effect… behaves like a real parasite. And he doesn’t hear the timid voices of the dissent — it’s time to stop while Mother Nature will not stop us.

The Earth is a living organism. If we continue to kill it, IT might stop us. A Holy place is never empty: good workers-cleaners may settle here and the planet will bloom and shine…but without us. If we nonetheless are able and kill the Earth, we will die with it. Don’t we understand it?

Nowadays, lessons on environmental problems are held in many schools. We are taught to respect nature, cherish it, and think of the consequences of our actions. It’s necessary to support cleanness not only in the streets but everywhere if we want our planet to continue to delight us and if we want to pass it to our children blooming and beautiful!

All that we ought to do – not just save the Earth but make it such a place that our descendants will get it at its best.

This is what is meant by the proverb: “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children”.  I am sure of it.
